Italian Lace

For more than three years now, the eighteen Italian lace communities have worked together on the Candidature for the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This project seeks to promote and safeguard the craftsmanship of Italian lace, showing both the differences in traditions and techniques,
both artistically and in sharing work techniques. All project-related events and events are an important opportunity for discussion among the community and all lace enthusiasts.

Held 21-24 September, the Bolsena 2017 was the fifth biennial and another important milestone! Conceived and promoted by the Associazione Bolsena Ricama, the event had national and international participants and enabled members of the UNESCO project #merlettoitaliano to meet again. For the occasion, the Burano Community displayed a project in needle lace:
